Information

Forks Hotel

The Waimate District Council allows freedom campers in self-contained vehicles to park here for a maximum of two nights, in the carpark of the Forks Hotel.

At least drinking and driving won't be an issue, a good chance to mingle with the locals!.

  • A camping hidden gem!

Stopped there overnight after calling to confirm that campervans can park in the lot for free. Great beer, great food, great price, and great owners. They left a side door open for us to use the toilet overnight. I would go out of my way to have that great pub experience again, and they also have a separate dining area that is more family friendly.

  • This is the way a camper van park is supposed to be, it defied all expectations.

It is a little out of the way of the main freeway, but definitely worth it for many reasons. It’s a hotel/pub that allows campers to park on the property. The owners were incredibly friendly as were the other patrons/locals. The food was delicious and beer perfectly chilled. It has the homey feel while you also get the full local experience. There are bathrooms in the pub that you get access to.

  • Just a carpark next to the pub, staff where really nice!

Quite a distance from state highway one but a good spot if you’re in need of somewhere to spend the night. We didnt use the facilities but im sure theyd let you use the toilet if you asked :)

  • Long way out of town.

Ok if you want to drink and not have to drive but definitely not worth the effort.
